Seachem De Nitrate – High-Porosity Biological Filter Media

Seachem De Nitrate is a natural, macro-porous filtration media designed to remove nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, and organic waste from aquarium water. It functions through both aerobic nitrification on the outer surface and anaerobic denitrification within its core, mimicking the biological action of live rock.

Its unique pore structure allows for the development of oxygen-depleting aerobic bacteria on the surface, creating an oxygen-poor environment deeper inside where anaerobic bacteria thrive—perfect for breaking down nitrates. De Nitrate is ideal for use in canister filters, sumps, box filters, and low-flow modules.

Directions for Use:

Rinse before use. Place in a filter where water flows through the media. For best results, maintain a flow rate under 200 L/h (50 GPH). Avoid high flow rates, which reduce anaerobic efficiency. De Nitrate does not exhaust but may require occasional rinsing to remove debris.
